Nothing New.

So I have no new updates Peace Corps related. I have my first doctor's appointment on Friday and a dentist appointment next Wednesday. I've just been hanging out with my friends a lot in Baltimore and spending WAY
to much money. So I definitely need to start looking for a part-time job because I'm spending a bunch of money but I don't have any coming in.

In other news I have a new favorite band called "Mumford & Sons," have you heard of them? They are from England and I'm officially obsessed. I'm gonna give you 2 of their songs to listen to that are my favorite (even though I love all of them) The first is the one by them you may have heard on the radio called "Little Lion Man" the other is just one of my personal favs called "The Cave"

It's the most wonderful time of the year ...

its Award Show season! I'm a H U G E movie buff. I love watching movies whether its in the movie theater or on my couch. Its hilarious when someone asks me what my favorite movie is, ill say one usually something like "My Cousin Vinny" or "Good Will Hunting" but, then I'll say well I love "The Constant Gardener" too and I really like "Braveheart" and of course "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Pineapple Express" is so hilarious how can you not love it... I can NEVER just name one because there are so many good movies out there and I usually end up naming at least 20.

But, I love award shows. Not just for the Red Carpet to see all of the pretty dresses and guys looking all nice in their tuxes. I'm one of those people who sits and watches the whole 3 hours of awards I love seeing people getting recognition for these movies that I think are so great and love to watch.

So tonight was the Golden Globes and I was disappointed in a few of the awards but excited in some others. Especially, Chris Colfer (who plays Kurt on Glee) winning best Supporting actor in a TV Comedy or Musical, his speech was amazing, I'm not gonna lie I teared up a little. Glee also won Best TV Comedy or Drama for the second year in a row. I'm also happy that Claire Danes won Best Actress in a TV Miniseries or Made for TV movie for "Temple Grandin" ! If you haven't seen that movie yet you are missing out. Finally, I am SO happy that Natalie Portman won Best Actress because not only is she one of my favorite actresses but, her movie "Black Swan" is incredible and definitely one of my favorites of the year, I was kind of sad it didn't win Best Picture.

Oh, also they gave a life time achievement award to Robert De Niro, who is awesome!

Did anybody else watch the Golden Globes?  Any body surprised/sad/happy about the results?

You've Got Mail!

So despite the snowy/icy
roads I decided to go the gym today because I hadn't gone in a couple days and I was feeling the need to go for a nice long run in my gyms awesome Movie Room (they have a movie theater sized screen)

Well when I got home there was something for me in the mailbox! It was my medical packet ... finally! (Being sarcastic) One week after my interview/nomination haha.

I've started to read over all the paper work. Its a little daunting. But, I've thought ahead, I already scheduled a Dentist and "Lady Doctor" appointment becuase those you have to do a few weeks ahead of time, and now I just have to make a regular doctor's appointment for a physical. I hope everything goes smoothly ... and quickly !

Let the Obsessing Begin.

So using the Calculator on Peace Corps Wiki and the Timeline I've determined if I actually get invited to my nomination program I could go to one of four countries:

1. Peru
2. Panama
3. Paraguay
4. Guatemala

Obviously I know things are subject to change, but it everything goes as planned I could be going to one of these 4 countries in 7 months.

The Time has Come the Walrus Said ...

to speak of many things .... like my Peace Corps interview! (Sorry I just watched Harriet the Spy so that is stuck in my head)

So my interview was yesterday at 1 pm in Rosslyn, VA. which is about a 45 minute drive from my house. My dad drove me because he knows the area better than me and I hate driving in the city. We got there early at about 12:30 so we sat and waited and I tried to not hyperventilate (the anticipation before big events always makes me more nervous) and I finally went in the office at 12:45. But, I ended up having to wait til 1:10 because he was having problems with his computer (which I understood later was a bigger deal than I thought because he typed up all my answers)

Finally, I go back in his office and I start to calm down a bit because he seems awesome, and he goes over the process (which I already knew) and then checked to make sure all my info was the same and asked me about my regional preferences. I'd actually be thinking about this for a while and was kind of struggling with it, obviously I told him flexible first but I would prefer Central/South America or SSA.

Then he said we were gonna start the actual "interview" part. Basically every question he asked me was one of the ones I found online so I was pretty prepared, and he was great because he would say the question the way he was supposed to but then at the end he would re-word it to a way that made more sense. It was awesome because throughout the whole thing I felt really confident and could tell that he liked me.

Then once the questions were over he goes ok ... I have no problem nominating you here are the four programs available to you which one do you want? I was like oh we are doing this now haha, and I get to pick?! There were two that I really liked and I kind of struggled with which one to choose. In the end I chose Central/South America, Aug/Sept 2011, Health - Water and Sanitation. The other program I could have chosen was in SSA, so both my prefered regions part of me wishes I chose the other one and part of me LOVES this program. But, I think everything will work out in the end and I will love wherever I go.

Now just waiting for my Medical Packet, he said it should come pretty quickly!!!!

Now I leave you with a HILARIOUS video I saw yesterday so you guys will be in as good a mood as I am : )

2010

In 2010 I ....

Graduated from college. Went to Vegas. Drank too much. Met some amazing new friends. Lived at the beach. Applied to the Peace Corps. Made some good choices. Moved back in with my parents. Got a tattoo. Realized who my best friends really are. Went to Guatemala with my mom and sister, and taught a class of Guatemalan first graders. Attended a Keg Race. Saw Donovan Frankenreiter LIVE. Made some bad choices. Went through 4 cell phones. Spent more money then I should have. Survived Maryland Blizzard 2010. Saw a lunar eclipse. Reached 1000 Facebook pictures, but then quickly detagged at least 150. Had the time of my life.
