I have an Invitation, but the Waiting isn't Over Yet!

It's been 2 weeks since I got my invitation to Paraguay. In that time I've read through the entire Welcome Book (at least 3 times), applied for my PC passport and visa, submitted my updated resume and aspiration statement and read as much as I could find about Paraguay.

But, now I've gotten to the point that there is not much I can do until I get closer to my departure. And so once again I am waiting. Yes, I am happy that I have this time to spend with my friends and family and do those things that I will miss while I am gone. BUT I am also SO ready to leave, to start this adventure.

Well that was annoying ..

I thought getting my Peace Corps passport and visa would be a somewhat easy task ...boy was I mistaken.

First, I found a post office near me that you didn't need to make an appointment. I went in on Thursday and the first thing they tell me is that the website hasn't been updated that you do need an appointment. But, they were slow so he said he would do it anyway.

(Let  me preface this by saying I need my current passport in December so I couldn't turn that in with my application, in this situation the PC says just fill out the normal form and use your birth certificate)

The guy at the post office said A. I couldn't keep my passport and just use my birth certificate and B. I wasn't supposed to keep the forms and mail them myself which the PC wants you to do. So at this point I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do. I make an appointment for Saturday to come back.

I went back today and it was the same guy. By this time he has found information on hand delivering your application and he says "So you are leaving in less than 14 days?" ... "Umm no." I say.  So then he goes on to say well that is the rules for hand delivering your application. I just stand there staring blankly. He then decides to call someone and ask them after the call he says Ill just do what you say if they have a problem they'll talk to you about it.

So finally after a little frustration I have finally mailed in my passport and visa application! I also submitted my updated resume and aspiration statement to Paraguay Country Desk.
