Ahhh!

I have one week until my PC interview! Ahhh. So nervous. This is kind of it in my mind. If I don't get nominated its over. I'm not worried too much about getting medically cleared its just a process. But, you need to the nomination to go anywhere! So wish me luck, because I probably won't post again until after the New Year maybe even after the interview I have a busy week ahead of me. Luckily it will keep my from stressing.

For instance I'm leaving in the next half hour to go to the Terps Basketball game tonight with all my friends! (and the reason I'm leaving 2 1/2 hours early is because College Park traffic B L O W S.

Hope everybody whose reading (if anyone does actually read this) has a great New Years.

Remember when I said ...

That I was going to stop being so frantic about the Peace Corps until after New Years ... Well I've succeeded a little. Its just difficult. But my interview is in a week and 1 day so maybe a little thought isn't too bad.

I leave you with this Peace Corps Ad I saw (Don't ask me where I can't remember but I found it on Youtube.) I love it!

P.s. -- Is that Matthew McConaughey narrating? Makes the video 10x better.

Christmas time !

i LOVE Christmas. I love the cold weather (hoping for snow -- we have a 30% chance haha), I love the all the food and cookies and egg nog, i love my family, and not gonna lie I love presents, but I love giving them just as much as I like getting them ... oh and I love all the decorations they are so pretty !

Tomorrow will be spent cooking, wrapping presents and watching all my favorite Christmas movies (Love Actually, The Family Stone, Its a Wonderful Life and White Christmas) and not worrying about my upcoming Peace Corps interview at all.

Now I leave you with my 2 favorite Christmas songs.

First - Wham's "Last Christmas" with a great music video in all its 80's music glory
Second - Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas is You"

Friends : )

This past summer I lived in Ocean City, Maryland for the summer with a group of my best friends

(My roommates - Melissa, Maggie, ME, Stacie and Brittany)

And tomorrow night we are having a summer crew reunion which includes all of my roommates and our friends Kara and Bryan, and Brittany's bf Joe.

I can't tell you how excited I am. These are my best friends in the world and now that college and the summer are over and we are spread out in MD among our hometowns I don't seem them as much as I'd like.

Thank goodness for Skype - we have video chat dates all the time. (See I'm already used to having to figure out different ways to keep in contact with people ... so ready for the Peace Corps haha)

Random thoughts.

First off ... yesterday the Senate passed a vote to END "Don't Ask Don't Tell" ! (Its a christmas miracle)

Next ... my interview is in 17 days. and I've realized in all the time that I have been hoping time passes quickly so I can have my interview that means I'm wanting Christmas and New Year's pass by quickly too. So I've decided to tone it down (just a little)

Also ... even though Christmas is 6 days away the weather is forcasting snow! I can't remember the last time we had a White Christmas (if ever ...) so that would be awesome, especially considering "White Christmas" is one of my favorite Christmas movies ever.

MAGIC.

My post yesterday of the Michael Buble song "Let it Snow" may have worked. Anne Arundel county is now under winter weather advisory! I'm magical : ) I hope when I wake in the morning it will be white and wonderful outside.

In other news a week ago I ordered the book "The Insider's Guide to the Peace Corps - What to know go before you go" by : Dillon Banerjee.

And I got it in the mail today!

A. I know I may be a bit ahead of myself since I haven't even had my interview yet. But, I can't help it.
B. I've read about half of it so far and its great it answers a ton of questions with pretty specific examples where as other times you when you might have asked these questions you get a more generic answer so I highly recommend it.

Last Night I ...

When contacted by my Peace Corps recruiter he recommended that I attend a general information session to gather more info and answer any questions I may have before the interview.

So last night there was one at the Annapolis Public Library and I went with my parents. I think overall it was probably more beneficial for my parents, because what you people should know about me is that when I set my mind to do something I don't typically do it half-hearted. I am online day and night reading any website, blog or newspaper article I can find about the Peace Corps. So when I don't have questions to ask its not because I haven't done my research, its acutally quite the opposite I have done as much research as humanly possible.

The session just made me more anxious and excited more my interview which happens in 26 days. But, trust me by the time that happens I'll probably have plenty of questions to ask my recruiter :)

I may have an obsession with travel ...

If you looked in the dictionary for the term Wanderlust ... this is what you'd find:

wan·der·lust

[won-der-luhst]

a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about.

ME

In my 22 years of life I have been lucky enough to travel to about 10 or so different countries (Canada, Bahamas, England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Holland, Guatemala, Ecuador and Australia.)

Many have said that I'm so lucky that I've been so many places (and trust me I am) but, in my mind that means I've only been to about 6% (I'm not so good at math so don't hold me to this) of the world and I have at least 175 more places to visit

In other news. I watched this great documentary last week with my family, and I think everyone should see it. It combines two things I love, traveling and soccer.

"The Hardest Job You'll Ever Love"

So since I've last posted I've submitted my application to the Peace Corps! The application is a pretty intense process, they ask you everything you could imagine. With in a couple weeks of submitting my application I received a package with some more forms a needed to fill out and submit (fingerpringts, college transcripts, etc.) I submitted all of that stuff the first week in November.

I hadn't heard anything in a few weeks, and a lot of what I've heard about the Peace Corps is that it is a waiting game, so, I was trying to be patient. But, I've been going through phases of excitment and nervousness and this wasn't helping.

FINALLY, at the beginning of December I was assigned a recruiter and scheduled an interview; which will now take place on January 5th .... ahhh a whole month of anticipation this won't help with my nerves.
