Independence Day Fabulous Nail Polish

Nail polish is typically one of the first things I notice about a girl. I think it says a lot about a person, if they choose to wear nail polish, if they don't, what colors they wear, neutrals, metallics, bright colors, dark colors; there are so many options! I'm pretty adventurous with my nail polish choices, I'll give anything a try. One thing I love to do is match my nails to whatever special occasion is going on at the moment. This weekend is 4th of July weekend and that means shades of red, white and blue, maybe add some gold and silver in there too.

Last year I went all out with patriotic nail polish with three red nails, a silver nail and a nail with white and blue stripes. It was pretty fabulous if I say so myself. A group of friends and I got our nails done for a friends birthday and it happened to be right before the 4th of July. Last year I celebrated 4th of July in the capital of Paraguay, Asuncion with a large group of other Peace Corps volunteers. It can be weird to celebrate a holiday like that in another country but, we gave it our best shot

If you need some inspiration for nail polish this weekend. Here are some of my favorite American themed polishes to help spruce up any outfit!

What is your typical nail polish style?

Happy Birthday America!

Thinking back over the years I think this is my first 4th of July being spent in a foreign country. Its a little strange because this day is just like any other to Paraguayans. I'm normally at the beach, or a cookout going to see fireworks later tonight. But today my day has been just like any other. Luckily, volunteers in PC Paraguay got to celebrate Independence Day, just a little earlier than usual. This past weekend all the volunteers were invited to the big party at the American Embassy. Let me just say I had a great time. It definitely felt like an afternoon spent in America. There were Hot Dogs and Hamburgers and a Dessert Bake-Off (and don't worry I was a very fair judge I made sure to taste EVERY dessert ... twice.) One of the best parts is there was good beer! Lets just say the beer here is not the best it was nice to have a Coors Light or Corona. There were also lots of fun and games, Tug-of-War, Three-Legged Race, Egg Toss and a Raffle. Overall it was a great way to spend my first (but not last) Independence Day abroad.

The Aftermath of our table at lunch. We went a little over board.

Three-Legged Race

Paraguayans who worked for the Embassay, Peace Corps or USAID were invited as well.
